EGRID is central to supporting the college’s core values of belonging and its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. The unit fosters a welcoming and inclusive community for students from underrepresented backgrounds by collaborating with faculty, staff, and students to create programs and resources that support both curricular and co-curricular success.The ideal candidate is a highly motivated individual with strong leadership abilities who thrives in collaborative environments. The position requires excellent written and oral communication skills and a track record of 1-3 years of successful experience in creating inclusive student programming that fosters a sense of community and belonging. EGRID’s ultimate goal is to prepare students to succeed academically and professionally.This is an off-dated position funded for three years from date of hire, with possible extension contingent upon funding renewal.Key Responsibilities and DutiesThe EGRID Program Assistant's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Collaborating in the development, coordination, and execution of student success programs across EGRID’s focus areas, including: Multicultural Initiatives, First-Generation Initiatives, Women in Engineering, Broadening Participation (K-12 Recruitment), and Gender and Sexuality Student Success.

Serving as the primary contact for International Students and Veteran and Military-affiliated Students within EGRID.

Advising engineering students on academic success and leadership development.

Providing supervisory support for EGRID student employees.

Supporting logistics, workshops, and other initiatives related to the Engineering and Science Success Academy (ESSA) during peak programming periods.

Providing instructional support for EGRID-led freshman transition courses.

Representing EGRID on select university committees and at various campus events.

Developing communication strategies to promote EGRID programs, including managing an online database for event scheduling and student participation.

Assisting with data collection and analysis of student engagement for EGRID initiatives.

Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum RequirementsKnowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Social Science, Education, Business, Liberal Arts, Student Affairs, Engineering, or related field; one to three years (1-3) of related and progressively more responsible or expansive experience working with college students and programming or similar related volunteer activities; experience with word processing, database, desktop publishing, web page design and maintenance software; may require bilingual abilities in a specific language; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired QualificationsBachelor's degree in engineering, education, student affairs, or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Completion of a relevant graduate degree is preferred. At least three (3) years of demonstrated success in implementing inclusive student programming that builds community and promotes a sense of belonging for students.
