SHERWOOD TRUCK REPAIR

Join the leading team in truck and trailer repair in Warren, MI, as a Diesel Mechanic.

This position is perfect for technicians with a comprehensive understanding of vehicle systems and a passion for problem-solving in a dynamic environment.

Techs experienced in diesel mechanics and diagnostics are encouraged to apply!

Compensation will be determined based on experience and skill set, $20 - $35 an hour.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Perform diagnostics and repairs on brake systems, including air system adjustments and replacements.

Handle light engine maintenance such as radiator, alternator, turbo, and sensor replacements, along with starter issues.

Utilize diagnostic software for engine troubleshooting.

Conduct general electrical maintenance including fuse, light, and switch replacements.

Repair and replace DPF systems.

Manage fifth wheel repairs, rebuilds, and replacements.

Execute transmission work including u-joints, drive shafts, clutches, and axle shafts.

Undertake heavy engine tasks like cylinder head and main gasket replacements.

Carry out preventive maintenance tasks, including oil changes and D.O.T inspections.

Perform interior maintenance such as seat and cabinet replacements and converter installations.

Maintain and repair suspension systems, including springs, bushings, and airbags.

Diagnose and repair HVAC systems.

Conduct bodywork including touch-ups and painting.

Ensure vehicles are maintained according to factory specifications and safety standards.

Requirements:

A minimum of 2 years verifiable diesel mechanic experience.

Ownership of personal tools for the job.

High school diploma or equivalent education.

Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various physical conditions.

Strong customer service orientation.

Valid driver’s license is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

Technical certification or degree in a related field.

State/ASE Certification is highly valued.

Possession of a CDL License is an advantage.

Experience with diagnostic computers preferred.

Previous experience in a diesel mechanic role will be highly regarded.
