Success will require optimizing across sub-systems for both efficiency & performance attributes in order to significantly reduce vehicle cost.In this position

The position of Technical Leader – Thermal Systems will play a crucial role in delivering on the Ford+ Plan by leading the development of energy and thermal management solutions that dramatically improve vehicle efficiency and cost for all powertrain variants.

This role requires a technical leader with a unique combination of thermal system design experience and interfacing with other key organizations within the company.

What you'll doLead development of thermal management system solutions:

Lead thermal and energy management concept/technology development and deliver to vehicle programs at cost levels that meet corporate targets.

Lead development of components and technologies that provide improved customer thermal and NVH comfort, on road range, reduced energy consumption, for all powertrain variants: ICE, hybrid and BEV.

Lead development of improved quality components and systems.

Lead/Mentor team of Technical specialists covering all areas of cabin thermal and nvh comfort, energy management and hydraulic cooling systems.

Lead definition and implementation of Ford’s technology roadmap for cabin comfort, hydraulic system, energy & thermal managment:

Identify & assess significant new technologies and strategies to improve efficiency of current and future Ford vehicles.

Lead development and implementation of new refrigerants and technologies in line with changing social expectations and government regulations.

Drive teams to develop modelling of thermal systems to reduce development time and cost.

Interface with universities, SAE, ACEA and research consortiums to advance thermal management research projects.

Interface with key R&A and Product Development partners to develop new technologies and simulation tools.

You'll have

M.S. in mechanical engineering or closely related science discipline required.

Minimum 10 years experience in thermal systems operation, Cabin comfort, hydraulic systems and related control strategies.

Recognized expert and leader in thermal system and subsystem development and related methodologies (including ICE engines, Hybrid systems, power electronics, HV battery, battery cooling and climate systems in the mechanical, electrical, and thermal domains).

Skilled in automotive thermal and climate system design.

Extensive thermal and hydraulic component knowledge.

Demonstrated systems mindset with cross-functional experience managing interactions between hardware and software.

Demonstrated collaboration skills to facilitate cross functional attribute trade-offs.

Strong communication skills and demonstrated success presenting to technical leadership and senior management.

Even better, you may have

Ph.D. in mechanical engineering.

Black Belt training preferred.
