HelixBind is a dynamic biomedical start-up developing a diagnostic platform for ultra-sensitive characterization of infections. Our first product identifies pathogens associated with sepsis directly from blood and without culture, enabling physicians to select appropriate, targeted antimicrobial therapeutics within hours rather than days. HelixBind is aggressively expanding our team and moving into to a brand-new facility in Boxborough, MA.

We are seeking an energetic and self-motivated assembly technician to drive forward product development. Specific emphasis will be given to those applicants interested in a challenging opportunity with immense impact and who flourish in a fast-paced environment. The technician will run small-scale production lots, will actively communicate with management and co-workers and will maintain a safe, organized, and clean work environment.

Educational Requirements, Skills, and Experience Prior experience not required, however, candidates with familiarity with any industrial assembly and/or machine shop equipment such as saws, drills, electronics soldering, and working with small/miniature machined components, will be given preference. Basic skills in mathematics. Capable of reading and understanding technical specifications of a mechanical capacity. Diligent at meeting tight schedules and milestones. Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Duties and Responsibilities Self-manage assigned projects from inception to completion. Assist in the operation of Haas vertical mills to produce plastic parts. Regularly perform drilling, tapping, de-burring, sawing and sanding tasks. Performs inspection of machined products, and documents results. Assists in other work areas to perform fabrication of plastic medical device parts. Work is very hands-on and may, at times, require the lifting of materials up to 50lbs. Ability to learn assembly of plastic parts assembled from machined parts.

Work Environment R&D environment.

Position Type This is a full-time position open for immediate hire.

Travel No travel is expected for this position.
