PART TIME WORKSHOP MANAGER

Massachusetts, Western massachusetts
Aplica ya

We are a relatively small sized family-owned Commercial Construction company that has been in business for over 40 years. About 30 years ago, we grew to the point that we were able to start employing a fill-time driver to make deliveries to the jobs, despite the position not necessarily justifying the amount of hours to maintain an employee full-time. Over the course of the years that followed, we grew in size, as did our location, our workforce, and the amount of tools, supplies and needs that we have had. The driver position quickly became an invaluable role for the company. In recent years, our full-time driver has needed to pull many hours of overtime, just to meet the needs of the job deliveries, pickups, load-ins, load outs, etc. The problem that we have run into is that we also ask the driver to maintain the shop, organize and catalog all of the tools, and make sure they are all clean and in safe and working order. When the jobs need stocking, and time is running on low-supply, the tasks related to the shop tend to back-up quicker than the chocolates at Lucille Ball's chocolate factory. That is where you come in.

We are looking for an individual who is looking for approx. 20 hours a week to perform the following tasks:

- Create and or maintain Organizational systems for our tools and materials.

- Track and stay on top of incoming and outgoing tools and materials and keep records of them.

- Clean, maintain and sometimes repair tools that may be damaged.

- Organize the shop and keep it running efficiently and safely.

- Possibly pinch hit with deliveries if needed on occasion.

- Interface, assist and coordinate with current driver.

- Place material and/or tool orders when supplies are depleted or more resources are needed.

- Interface with suppliers

This job might be nice for a younger person who is enthusiastic about the industry and has some relevant experience. Somebody who is in their retirement years and is looking for something to keep their mind active.

This person MUST have:

- Strong organizational skills bordering on obsessive

- Abilities to repair tools and other items or at least enough of a brain to desire to figure it out.

- Strong working knowledge of construction or the construction industry.

- A valid drivers license

- A personal vehicle or means of getting to and from our place of business every day

- General Sobriety

We are a really fair bunch of people to work for and we have a really awesome team of people that works with us. The vibe at our company is very family-oriented and people enjoy coming to work everyday. There is the possibility for growth in this position and we can discuss more in person.
