Hoist Operator (Warehouse) – Job Description

Job Summary:

A Hoist Operator in a warehouse is responsible for operating hoisting equipment, such as cranes, lifts, and pulleys, to move, load, and unload materials safely and efficiently. This role requires attention to safety protocols, precision in handling goods, and coordination with warehouse staff to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate hoisting equipment such as overhead cranes, forklifts with hoist attachments, and chain hoists to lift and transport materials.

Load and unload heavy materials from trucks, pallets, and storage areas.

Inspect hoisting equipment before and after use to ensure it is in proper working condition.

Follow safety regulations and company procedures to prevent accidents and damage to goods.

Coordinate with warehouse personnel to determine lifting requirements and placement of materials.

Perform routine maintenance and report any mechanical issues to the supervisor.

Keep work areas clean and organized to maintain a safe working environment.

Record material movements and maintain accurate inventory documentation.

Requirements & Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).

Prior experience in warehouse operations, material handling, or hoist operation.

Certification or training in hoist/crane operation (depending on company and local regulations).

Knowledge of workplace safety standards and procedures.

Ability to lift heavy loads and work in physically demanding environments.

Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

Good communication and teamwork abilities.

Work Environment:

Warehouse or industrial setting with exposure to heavy machinery and loud noise.

May require standing for long periods and working at heights.

Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, helmets, and safety boots may be required.
