This person will serve as the technical point of contact for customers in tandem with the program manager. Become technical point of contact for the project, customer, and vendors
Completely manages a new project and associated development/NPI process from initial design through shipment of the first article to meet the customer requirements on time and under budget
File management of project specific drawings, data sets, models, and part lists
Assist with/perform part and method entries into the ERP system (Epicor)
Create manufacturing documentation (BOMs, routings, part/tool sketches using SolidWorks, visual work instructions, change orders, etc) to fulfill customer requirements based on information supplied through purchase orders and engineering documents
Review and approve QA supplied control plans and inspection logs
Create & update schedules and project status using MS Project or other for new/NPI orders
Provide estimating support through developing layouts and concepts for costing/quoting
Support the development and improvement of engineering departmental procedures
Participate in the maintenance of engineering drawings and standards
Participate in jointly developing PFMEAs where/when necessary to mitigate risk
Qualifications:
BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering preferred
Minimum of 5-7 years engineering experience or previous/relevant intern/co-op experience.
Great attention to detail and proven communication skills
Have experience of strategic planning; with the ability to ensure the business meets customer requirements/deadlines.
Must be a self-starter with a willingness to take ownership and initiative on a new project/task from concept through completion
Proficient in SolidWorks and MS Office products
Demonstrated problem solving skills with a desire to grow in the role and new manufacturing technologies or processes to remain competitive
Basic understanding of GD&T
Familiar with typical fabrication processes such as sheet metal forming, rolling, assembly, welding, heat treating, and machining
Ability to handle multiple projects/tasks at one time with effective self-prioritization
