They've partnered with an esteemed organization to find an experienced Staff Accountant for their team. In the role of Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, you'll have responsibility over many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will look over schedules for the reporting processes, participate in compliance, and keep in touch with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. A very involved position, the Staff Accountant spends a good deal of time producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. The Needham, Massachusetts based company is offering this position on a short-term contract / contract basis. They provide an innovative work environment where effort is rewarded.Responsibilities
Maintain intricate journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Organize capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Be responsible for analysis of income statements and balance sheets and communicate findings to management
Be a part of various initiatives spanning multiple departments
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Support fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Offer descriptions of a large number of financial data and communicate insights in a useful and understandable manner Requirements - Strong attention to detail
Expertise in Ledger Reconciliations
Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Strong familiarity with month end closings
Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
Ability to complete multiple tasks and projects within deadlines
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Outstanding analytical, quantitative and social skills
ERP system experience
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
