The Campus School educates students ages 3-22 with extensive support needs, including complex medical needs.SUMMARYResponsible for assisting the special education teacher with the management of appropriate educational, therapeutic and health care services for each student in the classroom, as indicated in the Individualized Education Program.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for assisting the special education teacher with the implementation of the Individualized Education Program for each student in the classroomAttend transdisciplinary team meetings or other pertinent meetings relevant to implementing the students’ Individualized Education Program and attend in-service trainingsResponsible for following daily classroom schedules and specific programs for group and individual activities for each student as directed by special education teacherAssist the special education teacher with organization and maintenance of classroom and therapeutic supplies and equipmentAccompany students to therapy sessions as neededCommunicate effectively with students, staff and administrationUnder the direction of the classroom special education teacher and therapists, share in teaching in the classroom setting and the development of curriculum materialsObserve classroom settings covering ages 3-22Assist students in attending to their personal care needsSupport the mission of the Campus School at Boston CollegeRequirementsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCEBachelor’s Degree in education or related field and experience working with students with multiple disabilities preferred.Skills/Abilities/CompetenciesExcellent Communication SkillsExcellent Organizational SkillsExcellent Interpersonal SkillsExcellent Problem Solving AbilityAbility to multitaskAbility to work as part of a teamAbility to work with individuals from diverse backgroundsAbility to respond effectively in emergency situationsBilingual in English/Spanish or English/Portuguese is desirablePHYSICAL DEMANDSAssist, lift and transport students who have physical disabilitiesClosing StatementBoston College offers a broad and competitive range of benefits depending on your job classification eligibility:
