Janitor, part-time, evenings

We are looking for a part-time Janitor in the Bourne, Massachusetts area. Work will be performed at the Massachusetts National Cemetery. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer.

Compensation

$20.50 per hour wages PLUS $5.36 per hours benefits = $25.86 per hour

Work Schedule

Workdays: Monday through Friday

Memorial Day Weekend

Work Hours: After 5:00 pm for a minimum of 3 hours.

Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Duties

Sweep and wet mop all non-carpeted floor areas and vacuum all carpeted areas.

Clean restrooms to include toilets/urinals, sinks, faucets, partitions, mirrors, tiled walls, doors, door handles, and light switches. Clean and polish all glass, mirrored and stainless-steel areas. Fill all soap dispensers, paper towels, toilet paper and toilet protectors.

Wipe down and clean lockers, benches, walls, and doors.

Empty all trash receptacles in and outside of the administration/maintenance buildings, cortege booth, and public restrooms and replace the liner.

Clean the glass entrance doors and their handles of the administration building, public restrooms, and maintenance building.

Sanitize, clean, and polish all drinking fountains.

Wipe down and clean all light switches and push plates the administration building and public restrooms.

Wipe down and clean countertops, table, and sink in both the administration building kitchen and the maintenance building break room. Restock the paper towels and soap dispenser when required.

Weekly Duties

Dust and clean all doors, doorframes, walls, and partitions, ensuring corners are free of dust and cobwebs in the administration building, maintenance building, and cortege booth.

Remove trash and debris weekly from trash bins located at each burial section: (1-65; CS-1, CS-2, and CS-3; sections A-H; and Committal Shelters 1, 2, and 3).

Semi-Annual Duties (November and May)

Clean all glass windows with appropriate cleaner, inside and outside surfaces, for the administration/maintenance buildings, cortege booth, and public restrooms.

Dust and clean all window ledges, windowsills, pictures, and baseboards in the administration/maintenance buildings and cortege booth.

Clean (vacuum or dust) vents, louvers, light fixtures, ceiling fans, mini blinds, windowsills, tube heat radiators, water supply piping, ceiling structural framing braces and HVAC supply registers and duct work.

Vacuum, shampoo, and steam clean the carpeted areas in the administration building.

Memorial Day Weekend

Clean the public restrooms in accordance with paragraph D 1.1.a.3 daily over the Memorial Day

Qualifications for Janitor

Individual must be dependable.

Must possess one year of experience in janitorial service.

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.

Must be authorized to work in the United States. Verification via E-Verify may be required.

Completion of successful background check.

Ability to communicate in English – to read and interpret written information; ability to write clear statements; ability to communicate orally.

Ability to observe safety and security procedures and to comply with policies.

Must be able to do physical work, bend, kneel, stoop, reach, climb ladder, and operate equipment normally found in janitorial environments.

Must be able to manage time efficiently and to work individually as well as within a team.
