Job Overview:
As the Lead Bartender at our charming French bistro in Wellfleet, Cape Cod, you will play a pivotal role in providing exceptional service to our guests in an inviting, intimate setting. This position requires someone with a passion for fine cocktails, French wines, and creating an unforgettable experience for every customer. As the lead of our bar team, you will manage the bar operations, maintain a high level of service, and mentor and supervise bartenders to ensure smooth and efficient service.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Supervision:
Oversee and direct the daily operations of the bar, ensuring a smooth and efficient service.
Supervise and support the bar team, ensuring each team member follows company procedures and maintains a high standard of service.
Train and mentor new bartenders, providing guidance on drink preparation, customer interaction, and workflow management.
Guest Service:
Provide exceptional customer service by crafting and serving signature cocktails, French wines, and classic drinks with professionalism and a friendly attitude.
Engage with guests, answering questions about the drink menu, providing recommendations, and ensuring an overall outstanding dining experience.
Maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere at the bar, ensuring guests feel valued and attended to.
Bar Operations & Inventory:
Maintain and organize the bar area, ensuring cleanliness and proper setup at all times.
Oversee inventory management, including stocking and ordering supplies, as well as managing bar waste and inventory levels.
Ensure that all alcohol and beverage laws and regulations are followed, including checking IDs and adhering to local alcohol guidelines.
Menu Knowledge & Execution:
Stay updated on the bistro's menu, particularly the drink offerings, to provide expert recommendations to guests.
Work with management to create seasonal and special cocktail menus that reflect the bistro’s French theme.
Handle cash and credit transactions, and balance cash registers and tips at the end of each shift.
Health & Safety Compliance:
Ensure that all food safety and health standards are adhered to, including sanitation procedures for the bar and surrounding areas.
Monitor the well-being of customers, ensuring responsible alcohol service and managing intoxicated guests appropriately.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of bartending experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership or supervisory role.
Knowledge of French wines, cocktails, and classic bar techniques; French bistro or fine dining experience is a plus.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) or similar alcohol service certification preferred.
Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be of legal drinking age (as per local regulations).
