Established owner operated, intimate, fine dining restaurant. Restaurant El Quenepo is located on the beautiful island of Vieques, Puerto Rico (consistently voted in the top ten of islands of the world for the best beaches). Our 55-seat restaurant is known for creativity, bold flavors, using local ingredients and cooking each dish from scratch. We are seeking an experienced full-time bartender to join our team.

Duties AND Responsibilities:

Provide excellent customer service and create a memorable drinking/dining experience for guests

Serves drinks while maintaining a clean and sanitary bar area

In depth knowledge about food, wine, beverage menu and ability to offer suggestions and up sell when possible.

Attends to the detail and presentation of each order

Deliver/remove food or beverage items from tables when necessary

Bar maintenance (clear dirty plates, wipe bar, dry condensation, set up correct silverware, etc.)

Prepares and maintains ingredients by following recipes

Adheres to proper alcohol handling, safety procedures and maintains appropriate dating, labeling and rotation of all

beverage items.

Coordinate weekly supply inventory for bar and submits orders to supervisor; assists with storing of deliveries.

Completes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules, including dishwashing as needed.

Skills AND Qualifications:

2 years minimum experience as a bartender in a fast moving environment with cocktail preparation knowledge.

Self-motivated with a positive, energetic outlook and passion for food and beverage.

A sense of urgency to satisfy the needs of others in a timely manner

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work or stand for long periods of time.

Time management skills.

Strong teamwork and communication skills.

Ability to stay professional in a stressful work environment

Ability to us point-of-sale system

Ability to multitask and to cater to bar customers as well as service bar

Ability to dissolve conflict, take criticism and solve problems

Knowledge of basic math equations, particularly addition and subtraction

Ability to learn quickly on the job

Bilingual: English and Spanish is advantageous.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays
