ABOUT THE EMPLOYER: HOT BENCH is a nationally syndicated television program produced by CBS in Los Angeles, CA. We employ part-time researchers throughout the country to work remotely in our designated research markets. From the producers of JUDGE JUDY, HOT BENCH adds a new dimension to the court genre, with a panel of three judges hearing court cases, arguing the merits of the case amongst themselves and rendering a verdict.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Boston, MA based part-time Stringer/Field Researcher will go to the Boston courthouse to research information contained in pending small claims cases. As a stringer, you will be looking for interesting and compelling small claims cases that our show can produce for daytime television. In some instances, you may need to drive a good distance to and from courts. Driving time is paid for, and mileage is reimbursed. You will need to keep in regular and frequent contact with the Los Angeles home office. This is an excellent opportunity to gain both legal and entertainment experience for your professional resume.
PAY RATE: THIS IS AN HOURLY, PART-TIME POSITION AT $15.00/HOUR. Mileage is reimbursed at $0.655/mile. Work-related expenses will be reimbursed (photocopying, faxing, scanning, etc.). Due to website structure, we are required to input a daily rate, however, please note that you will not automatically make $120.00/daily (for an 8 hour day). You will earn $15.00/hour (or the minimum wage based on your location) based on your weeks worth of work). We have limits as to how many hours can be worked in certain research locations. QUALIFICATIONS: We are seeking students and or non-students who are self-motivated, efficient, professional, organized, and have strong communication skills. You must possess a working car with insurance. Legal/court knowledge is preferred, but not required.
ELIGIBILITY: Currently enrolled law students, undergraduate students, or non-students; no recent graduates, unless you are not interested in or looking for full-time employment of any kind as this will not lead to a full-time position. Again, this will only be a part-time position, however, it is year-round.
START DATE: Phone interviews and hiring will be conducted ASAP. Preliminary training, screening, and new hire paperwork will follow immediately.
