Social isolation among elderly individuals in the US is a pressing concern, with millions experiencing loneliness and limited social connections. In Massachusetts, social isolation among elderly individuals is a significant issue, with approximately 30% of adults aged 65 and older living alone. This isolation can have detrimental effects on both physical and mental health, increasing the risk of depression, cognitive decline, and chronic illnesses.
Though we are not a nonprofit, Seniors Helping Seniors of Greater Boston & Metrowest operates under a mission-driven business model of peers-helping-peers by employing older adults/retirees in need of supplemental income and seeking an opportunity to "give back" by working one-on-one with the elderly our communities who are in need of social engagement, non-medical care, and assistance. Services provided include:

Minimum requirements:
Older adult/retiree with 45+ years of life experience
Compassionate, reliable, and flexible
Availability for 6-8 hours during weekdays
Hold a valid driver's license and have an insured vehicle (our clients are not accessible by public transportation)
Personal cell phone
Private email account and ability to send/receive emails
Conversational English fluency
Live centrally in our Greater Boston/Metrowest service area with accessibility to multiple client locations including Arlington, Belmont, Boston, Brighton, Brookline, Cambridge, Dedham, Framingham, Jamaica Plain, Lexington, Medford, Natick, Needham, Newton, Sudbury, Waltham, Watertown, Wayland, Wellesley, West Roxbury, Weston
