We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented individual to join our growing team as a Part-Time Band Saw Machine Operator and Assistant Shop Manager focused on cutting large ice blocks for commercial and event use. This role combines hands-on operation of specialized band saw equipment for precision ice cutting with support in managing daily shop operations in Walpole, MA. The working hours are completely flexible and can include evenings and weekends to meet your availability.
Responsibilities:
Operate a band saw safely and efficiently to cut large blocks of ice into specified sizes and shapes.
Handle and move heavy ice blocks using appropriate tools and safety procedures.
Inspect and measure finished ice products for quality and consistency.
Maintain and clean saw equipment and workspace to ensure sanitary and safe conditions.
Monitor inventory of ice and supplies; assist with ordering and restocking as needed.
Support scheduling, workflow, and coordination of ice production and delivery tasks.
Assist the Shop Manager in daily operations and help train part-time staff as required.
Qualifications:
Experience operating band saws or working in a production/cold storage environment preferred.
Comfortable working in cold temperatures for extended periods.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety and cleanliness.
Ability to lift and maneuver heavy ice blocks (up to 75 lbs) safely.
Reliable, organized, and team-oriented.
