Harbor Health is currently seeking a Bilingual/Bicultural Haitian Creole WIC Program Assistant to join our team at the Harbor WIC Program.

Role:
The WIC Program Assistant coordinates the reception, file management, certification and check processing for WIC related activities. This position is Full Time, 37.5 hours per week. The position is primarily based at our partnering WIC office at DotHouse Health but must be flexible to work at our other WIC locations including Daniel Driscoll Neponset Health Center in Dorchester as well.
Responsibilities:
Performs reception duties including:
o Answers and directs phone calls
o Screens applicant inquiries for eligibility
o Manages appointment scheduling/rescheduling including reminder phone calls
o Greets and triages participants to appropriate staff
o Oversees flow of applicants/participants in waiting area
o Clerical duties as required
Follows all protocols and/or regulations for processing applicants/participants for (re)certification including:
o Verification of identity, income, residency, and participant category and completes data entry for (re)certification.
o Educates and/ or explains participant’s rights and responsibilities, WIC foods, and using benefits at authorized vendors.
o Referrals to MassHealth, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Transitional Aid to Families of Dependent Children (TAFDC) programs as well as other health and human service programs
o Provides notification for end of certification, missed benefits, and/or ineligibility to receive WIC benefits
Oversees benefit issuance for prescribed food prescription including:
o (Re)issuing of food/formula prescription benefits
o Security of WIC Card stock
Performs quality assurance activities
Requirements:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
BLS (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers) Certification is required
One year of general office experience with proficient computer skills in Office 365 including Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Teams
Must speak Haitian Creole and English (required)
Experience in health care or community facility preferred
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Must be available to work at multiple WIC sites and during program clinic hours, as needed
