Position Summary:
The Direct Care staff work with homeless families temporarily living in FamilyAid’s Navigation Center, a Co-shelter Facilities or similar part time congregate program.
The Direct care staff will provide general support to program participants and oversee adherence to program rules and expectations designed to promote client well-being and safety through a trauma informed approach. Working collaboratively with other agency staff, they support the rapid and successful transition of families into permanent and stable housing.
Requirements:
High School or GED required.
Bilingual in English and Haitian Creole or Spanish required.
Previous human service experience, preferably residential, with a strong interest in working with homeless families.
Ability to ascend and descend stairs up to three or more sets and remain stationary for portions of the time.
Ability to work alone and handle crises with good judgment and adequate communication skills – both written and oral
Ability to multi-task and effectively prioritize competing demands.
Access to reliable transportation to the work location(s).
Ability to become CPR certified.
Work Schedule and Location:
Full-time, Part-time, and Per-diem are available. The positions require a full-time, on-site presence. The roles are not eligible for remote or hybrid work and are classified as essential for weather emergencies.
