About the JobRed Hat is looking for a leader for our global Field Chief Technology Officer (Field CTO) organization. This role will lead efforts across field sales, services, our business unit (BU) product leaders and engineering teams to drive full solution and technology adoption from Red Hat customers. This role requires a high degree of executive presence and partnership skills, given internal and external visibility requirements. This leader must be a trusted advisor, both internally across Red Hat leadership and externally with customers and partners.This role will direct a globally diverse and cross-functional team of senior leaders, and requires demonstrated experience in inspiring and leading a distributed team. A successful leader in this role will work to establish and reinforce Red Hat’s vision and thought leadership in multiple industries and verticals. In customer and executive engagements, this leader will be able to apply a breadth of experience to assist our customers in maximizing the value of their investments in Red Hat. In addition, this leader will be able to build partnerships within Red Hat to ensure Field CTO client engagements provide insights for product development, as well as field sales and marketing strategy and messaging. The Field CTO leader will ensure that Red Hat solutions and innovations are integrated into creating joint solutions that lead to measured business outcomes and can be replicated by partners.This role will report to the CTO and SVP, Global Engineering. Given close collaboration with Red Hat leadership, regular availability in the Boston, MA office is preferred. Significant level of business travel required for internal Red Hat, customer, and partner meetings and conferences (50%). Successful applicants must reside in a country where Red Hat is registered to do business.What You Will Do

Lead a global cross-functional organization of Field CTO leaders and Chief Architects and Technology Strategists focused on articulating Red Hat's technology vision and competitive differentiation in one-to-many publications, presentations, executive briefings and/or one-on-one C-suite engagements

Collaborate with the Field CTO leadership team to build and drive a cohesive business and people strategy for the global organization; ensure relevant success metrics are in place to quantify the impact of the Field CTO organization

Continuously evolve the Field CTO strategy, objectives and brand in alignment with company strategy and industry trends

Ensure a supportive and collaborative environment that values input from all sources and drives partnership and engagement

Understanding of cost control, financial reporting and financial planning processes, with an ability to forecast financial trends, track expenditures and make adjustments to budgets as necessary to meet organizational goals

Build strategic partnerships with global executive leaders across Red Hat to provide insights for product development as well as field sales and marketing strategy and messaging

Position the Field CTO Organization to build influential executive relationships with key customers and partners via exec sponsorship as a top priority

Engage regularly with field and product leaders, through quarterly business reviews (QBRs), BU / Sales interlocks and other regular touch points to provide customer and partner feedback that informs Red Hat’s technology strategy, influences organic and inorganic investments and informs sales with overall customer insights that progress seller conversations

Provide the Office of the CTO customer and partner perspective on emerging technologies and partner with this organization to understand research initiatives underway

Drive high-impact, high-growth strategic engagements by supporting sales teams in building executive-level relationships and partnerships

Enable C-suite and senior decision-makers with globally proven solutions that address critical enterprise challenges, leveraging deep industry expertise to ensure relevance

Prioritize initiatives such as Executive Briefings to enhance strategic alignment and customer impact

Ensure that the Field CTO Organization works together to advance strategic Flight Path engagements, a program designed to help our customers establish a roadmap and implement their digital transformation

Ensure that the Field CTO Organization represents Red Hat at industry events, forums and conferences through speaking engagements designed to provide technology insights and future trends

Manage internal BU, Engineering and upstream community engagement by gathering, organizing and prioritizing customer requirements, use cases and market opportunities

Facilitate a direct global feedback loop between customers, partners, product management and engineering to refine product capabilities

Work closely with upstream communities and engineers to ensure technology implementation aligns with customer needs, driving innovation and enhancing product relevance

What You Will Bring

15+ years of progressive supervisory, managemen, and leadership responsibility in the technology or software industry, with demonstrated success in contributing to sales targets or pipelines and implementing both direct and channel routes to market

Strong professional experiences leading global team(s) with a high degree of geographical, cultural and linguistic diversity

Deep understanding of a preponderance of enabling technologies for the modernization journey, including application development, integration techniques, networking, virtualization, containerization, automation, security, data science, AI/ML and edge computing

Strong intellectual curiosity with ability to learn quickly and stay on top of emerging technology trends and company or industry threats.

Ability to develop a thoughtful organizational strategy, as well as ensure common objectives that drive cross-functional collaboration in achieving this strategy

Ability to lead with an “agile” mindset through ambiguity, creating direction for the organization when faced with uncertainty

Track record of building and executing technology strategies and solution architecture plans which support scalable growth

Demonstrated experience leading and supervising high performance teams with experienced personnel

Demonstrated ability to build successful partnerships with internal and external executive business and technology leaders

Excellent listening skills are a must; in particular, an ability to reach other leaders by understanding their groups' roles, processes and specific vernacular

Demonstrated skill in speaking to large crowds, journalists and analysts, with main-stage presentation experience

Crave working in a fast-paced, technologically forward-leaning environment; not afraid to push the boundaries to drive customer success

Experience with (and ideally passion for) open source

Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay TransparencyRed Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity.
