We provide residential undergraduate education to nearly 900 students. Each department at Hampshire College contributes to the collaborative culture of the organization and plays an important role in the success of the College. The justice, equity, and antiracism team advances the college’s goals of ensuring that all our students achieve success and transforming higher education. As part of this team, you will assist in achieving these goals. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:The Director of Domestic BIPOC and International Student Success is a full-time, 12-month, live-on professional staff member participating in emergency response and administrator on-call rotation for the entire campus and reporting to the Senior Vice President for Justice, Equity, and Antiracism and with a dotted reporting line to the Senior Director for Student Success and Engagement. The Director implements and sustains a comprehensive range of programs, initiatives, and services centered around domestic BIPOC and international student success, belonging, support, and retention.The Director will focus on domestic BIPOC and international student engagement and success, will manage international student space, and will work with campus partners such as the Director of the Lébron, Wiggins, Pran Cultural Center (a BIPOC student space) to provide educational, social, and cultural programming that builds community and centers and affirms the needs of international students and the international student community. The Director works to create and offer immersive opportunities for co-curricular learning and leadership development, advocates for initiatives that contribute to international students’ sense of belonging and well-being and fosters a vibrant global community that provides international students and the college community the opportunity to participate in conversations and educational experiences that expand our collective understanding of global experiences.The Director also serves as the Primary Designated School Official for SEVIS records and Student and Exchange Visitor Program compliance, provides advising to international students, coordinates international student transition services such as the new international students’ orientation and transit programs, and provides education, support, community, and advocacy to and on behalf of all students who identify as international—F-1/J-1 students, dual citizens, permanent residents, and third culture.As a retention specialist, the Director will bring systems-change and data-informed approaches to student retention and will collaborate with the Senior Director for Student Success and Engagement in developing methods, strategies, programs, and initiatives to keep students engaged, motivated, and prepared to graduate. Focusing on identifying and collaborating with students, faculty, and staff to address issues and remove barriers that impede students’ success, the Director assists with all domestic BIPOC and international student success and retention efforts and strategies across Academic Affairs and Justice, Equity, and Antiracism.The Director will also participate in the Community Standards (i.e., conduct) process, while bringing community care and transformative and restorative justice approaches to aiding students in upholding the standards. The Director is a student development practitioner who is student-centered, open to new and challenging experiences, highly motivated and cares deeply about forming strong relationships and engaging in meaningful and educational experiences with students. This position needs to be highly visible, maintain strong connections, and work successfully with students, faculty, staff, parents, and external constituents. REQUIRED SKILLS:

Preferred

Knowledge of high impact strategies that support domestic BIPOC and international students’ growth and development and enhance and promote community and individual wellbeing as well as persistence and degree completion.

Understanding of Student Development Theory, systems and transformative change theories and approaches

Familiarity with Google Suite, Adobe, student information management (e.g., Colleague), social media applications, student activities platforms, and conduct platforms (e.g., Guardian), etc.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

Four-year college degree or equivalent

Minimum of two years job related experience
