Educator (LG13)

Large non-profit organization located in Piney Point, MD has an opening for an Educator LG13. Applicant should demonstrate:

Awareness of disease manifestation in bio-psycho-socio-spiritual domains.

Working knowledge of the disease model of alcoholism.

Acceptance and knowledge of the public health disease model.

Familiarity with AMA and ASAM disease definitions of alcoholism and addiction.

Thorough knowledge of alternative self-help recovery programs (SMART/Rational recovery).

Present lectures and films – adequately answer pertinent content questions.

Head discussion groups

Work independently with minimum supervision.

Awareness of cultural, sociological, and ethnic differences and strengths of diversity.

Commitment to social justice through education and equality.

Knowledge of relapse prevention, relapse process, relapse warning signs and management strategies.

Work together as a part of a treatment team.

Safely transport and supervise clients at meetings, meals, outside educational exercises, living skills, gym, walk, swimming, shopping, and arts/crafts both during and outside normal business hours at the treatment facility.

Obtain mail, stores, and other supplies and assist in facility minor maintenance.

Ensure client cooperation with medical advice and medications.

Ensure client adherence to rules and regulations at SARC.

Protect client’s rights and ensure client safety at SARC.

Certification in CPR (required for PM workers).
