Patient Profile:
2-year-old with complex medical needs
Diagnoses: Global developmental delay, tracheostomy and ventilator dependent, G-tube dependent, oxygen dependent
Additional conditions: GERD, aspiration risk
Essential Responsibilities:
1. Respiratory Care:
o Perform tracheostomy care and maintenance, including sterile suctioning and stoma care
o Monitor ventilator settings and parameters, troubleshoot basic ventilator issues
o Assess breath sounds and respiratory status frequently
o Administer prescribed nebulizer treatments and perform chest physiotherapy
o Monitor oxygen saturation levels and adjust oxygen delivery as ordered
2. Nutritional Management:
o Provide G-tube feedings according to prescribed schedule
o Monitor for feeding intolerance and implement appropriate interventions
o Administer medications via G-tube using proper technique
o Perform G-tube site care and assess for complications
o Monitor hydration status and maintain detailed intake/output records
3. General Nursing Care:
o Conduct comprehensive assessments each shift
o Monitor and document vital signs, growth parameters, and developmental progress
o Provide age-appropriate personal care, including bathing and oral hygiene
o Implement positioning and skin care protocols to prevent pressure injuries
o Support developmental growth through appropriate stimulation and activities
Required Qualifications:
Current Maryland LPN or RN license in good standing
Minimum 1-year pediatric experience
Current certifications in BLS and PALS
Demonstrated competency in:
o Tracheostomy care and ventilator management
o G-tube care and enteral feeding
o Pediatric assessment skills
o Emergency response procedures
Schedule:
12-hour shifts
7 days per week coverage needed
Immediate start
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift/transfer pediatric patient
Extended periods of standing/walking
Operation of medical equipment
