Summary About the Position: This position is with Defense Health Agency (DHA) Special Staff, General Counsel, Dep Gen Counsel, Field Legal Services (DRO) located in Bethesda, MD. Responsibilities Perform fact-finding, research, and analysis on assignments in the Administrative Law section on a variety of subjects to provide assistance to staff attorneys in the development of case files. Interact with departments across the Military Treatment Facility (MTF) and/or other federal agencies to coordinate the processing of legal actions when appropriate. Serve as point of contact for processing gift proffers. Review gift proffers to MTFs and related clinics to ensure they are completed in accordance with gift acceptance policy and regulations Assist with review of all financial disclosure reports (OGE 450s and SF 278s) to ensure complete compliance with required reporting and training by those required to report. Organize and maintain tracking method of OGE 450/SF 278 filers for easy access and retrieval of information. Ensure gifts exceeding MTF Director’s acceptance authority are properly documented and staffed through Ethics Counselor to Network or DHA Director for approval and acceptance. Prepare correspondence for the proper gift acceptance authority thanking gift donors for their generous gifts. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes: reviewing legal documents for completeness of information; researching a variety of legal sources to obtain and/or verify information; and using automated software to produce legal related reports, documents, correspondence and related materials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone. No substitution of education for experience is permitted.
