Director of Nursing

The Director of Nursing supervises, heads, and coordinates nursing activities and nursing personnel in our locations. Evaluates nursing activities to ensure patient care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.ResponsibilitiesProviding administrative oversight of the facility's nursing services, and where appropriate, directly supervising the facility's nursing staff.Assisting in developing and maintaining written objectives, policies and procedures related to nursing services, developing an organization plan, and developing a quality assurance program for nursing services, and reviewing all nursing policies and procedures, minimally, on an annual basisEnsuring the coordination and integration of nursing services with other client care services to ensure continuity of care for each client.Assisting in the development of written job descriptions for the nursing staff and assigning duties of the nursing staff.Participating in staff orientation and staff education activities, when applicable.Participating in team conferences with the multidisciplinary team and the client care committee (if the facility chooses to establish a client care committee).Under the supervision of the Medical Director, assists in educating clients about health problems and medical care.Facilitates medication education for new clients and for all other clients starting new medications.Manages nursing staff including staffing, training, disciplinary action, and communication between the nurses and other departments.
