Ammunition Accountability Technician Job Code:2024:0409-015 Location:Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD FT/PT Status:Temporary Business Sector:Test Range Operations Job Description TEMPORARY Assignment between 1 July 2024 to 20 December 2024 with potential to be extended. Responsible for accountability, security, inventory, record-keeping, receipt, turn-in, warehousing, care and protection of all ammunition and explosives to include all hazardous waste munitions and associated range residue generated by U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center (ATC). After coordinating with the Government team leader, utilize the computer equipment provided to process issues and turn-ins of Class V ammunition and explosives via the Test Center database.Duties and Responsibilities Maintain ammunition accountability utilizing the Test Center database and magazine data cards. Generate ammunition issue, transfer, and/or turn in documents as appropriate, coordinate with the Government team leader, expedite issues/turn-ins by hand carrying appropriate documentation to the U.S. Army Garrison, Directorate of Logistics personnel. Ensures chain of custody is established for all ammunition and explosives that is issued from the Plant. Package ammunition for shipment to various off-post locations in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) directives. Provide the U.S. Garrison, Directorate of Logistics any required shipping documentation in accordance with DOT Directives. Ensure ammunition is properly packaged, blocked and braced, and that required ammunition transfer documents are prepared for all on-post movement of ammunition/explosives. Perform physical inventories (with assigned inventory crew) of ammunition assets to include handling of unpackaged ammunition and explosives as needed. Verify that physical inventories match the Test Center database and magazine data card. Ensure that all discrepancies are reported to the plant supervisor/team chief. Assist in any causative research to reconcile reported discrepancies. Ensure upon receipt of ammunition and explosives that the material is of the correct type and quantity. Prepare items for temporary storage, including the care, preservation, packing, crating, and stenciling of the containers and the proper warehousing of the assets. Ensure that items being placed into storage are compatible in accordance with Department of Defense (DoD) Directives with item(s) already in storage. Verify that the Net Explosive Weight is not exceeded for the storage facility. Ensure maximum utilization of sensitive, classified, radioactive, hazardous, reactive, and flammable material, expeditiously process turn-in documents to allow maximum utilization of available storage space. Qualifications Pay Rate: $48.45/hourRequired Skills and Qualifications Must have 5 yr. applicable experience. Must possess Ammunition Certification Level I in accordance with ATC Regulation 350-8 within 6 months of employment. Must possess a Class C Commercial Driver License (CDL) with endorsement for Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) and unrestricted for air brakes within 6 months of employment. Must possess a license to operate forklift(s) and other required support equipment. Must possess a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Certificate within 6 months of employment. Must possess a clearance for unaccompanied access to Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) within 6 months of employment.Physical Qualifications The work of this position is performed in an environmentally controlled office environment and sometimes in the field where you are subject to the environment. Must be capable of sitting and entering data on a computer keyboard for extended periods of time. Must be able to view computer monitor for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift 25 pounds unassisted. Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned.
