Sissle & Daughters is a soon-to-open all-day cafe, wine bar, and grocer in Portland’s Woodford’s Corner neighborhood, from the folks at The Cheese Shop of Portland. Our focus is on quality from the ingredients we source, foods we cook, and service we provide. In collaboration with the managing owner and chef, Sissle & Daughters is looking for a manager to lead all aspects of front-of-house service. This managerial position is a culture building role and requires dedication to warm customer service, teamwork, and putting out the highest quality product to each and every customer.
Responsibilities:
Oversight of all aspects of front-of-house service and overall operations of grocery department
Uphold and continually improve service standards and customer experience
Hire, train, manage, and schedule FOH & grocery team
Lead daily floor team preparations
Provide daily service reports to ownership
Communicate daily food sales to chef to ensure proper pars
Build team culture through training sessions, service education, and performance reviews
Implement company disciplinary measures as appropriate to staff circumstances.
Collaborate with ownership and chef on development of catering and buyout opportunities.
Grocery department inventory management and ordering.
Keep front-of-house in state of readiness for health inspections.
Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, working effectively alongside the entire team, across departments.
Qualifications:
Leadership experience strongly desired.
Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
Outstanding management, mentorship, and training abilities.
Ability to project manage and problem solve with attention to timeliness and meeting deadlines.
Ability to work well under pressure and be a calm problem-solver.
Ability to stand and work for 8+ hours.
Available to work weekends and some holidays.
Ability to communicate clear and concise verbal and written instructions.
Strong grasp of POS software platforms.
Experience in oversight of administrative responsibilities.
Have a current Servsafe certification or a commitment to becoming certified.
