OPPORTUNITY

Opportunity to be an integral part of a family run organic pasture-based livestock farm using rotational grazing and mob grazing with a variety of livestock. There is the opportunity to manage the farmstand and grow sales and offerings to support more local organic farms and processors. If you are passionate about livestock, soil, and human health this position offers a great opportunity to further develop the Misty Brook Farm Shop, customer experience, and personal development as a team member. There is the potential to greatly expand the farm shop and increase availability of healthy foods to the local community.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Make sure the farmstand is well stocked on meats, eggs, vegetables, grains, cheese, dairy, etc. Communicate stocking needs with other farm staff and place orders with other suppliers. Package goods for the farm stand such as beans, grains, and vegetables. Clean freezers, defrost as needed, etc. Make signs and price products. Decorations, make it beautiful and inviting! Help customers as needed.

Manage the farm’s Instagram, Facebook, and Website with regular posts; including recipes for products we want to promote, farm updates, events, and anything interesting to our followers. Message and email with customers. Organize events like sheep shearing day and open farm day.

Manage meat inventory by sorting, organizing, weighing, and tracking meat that comes back from the butcher (mostly every other week). Track meat leaving inventory to stock the farm stand and track meats sold in the farm stand. Keep online meat inventory list up to date.

Prepare Farm Lunch for our team every Wednesday (currently 16+ good eaters). We all sit down together to enjoy the food we produce, catch up with each other for an hour, and take another hour to discuss a topic. These meals are meant to highlight the foods we grow and additional ingredients from our community. This is also a great opportunity to develop in season recipes to share with our followers.

Must be able to:

Be able to change and adjust plans based on observation (especially with organizing products in the available space based on what sells or what products we need to promote).

Asist in other farm tasks as needed.

Communication:

Effectively communicate observations and needs.

Communicate with Distribution Manager (Erin) about what products need to be promoted in the farm stand vs what wholesale needs are.

Communicate with other team members. Especially about stocking needs and customer requests/input.

COMPENSATION

Hourly position paid $18-25/hr. depending on ability to be reliable, proactively problem solve, take initiative and responsibility, collaborate with others, and serve customers.

One week paid time off per year.

One week paid sick time per year.
