What You Will Do:

Be a domain expert in controls/programming for automation and equipment processes; drive fundamental understanding across the division.Lead projects and processes for division-wide ormulti-plant manufacturing projects. Lead and maintain knowledge of the latest technology developments within the machine controls industry.

Will fostercontinuous improvement activities (new technology implementation and fundamental process understanding) in support of cost reduction & quality improvement projects using Champion Engineering Excellence tools & Engineering Validation Compliance (cGMP).Ensure Intellectual Property management process is followed and project is properly documented.

  • Objectively assess and interpret business, product, and process needs to establish project objectives.
  • Lead and influence the technical direction ofmultifield,multi-functional project teams working on early to late stage innovation projects.
  • Understand how to integrate custom and commercially available technologies and processes.
  • Effectively use external systemintegratorsfor detail design, build, and integration of early to late stages machine controls / programming for automation and equipment system implementation.
  • Responsible for the overall technical, functional and operational integrity of concept, design, estimating costs, defining project scope, budget & schedule.
  • Create project plans (scope, schedule, cost estimates, project acceptance criteria, etc.)
  • Responsible for identification of project resources necessary to complete project tasks.
  • Coach and mentor engineering personnelto enhanceteameffectiveness.
  • Collaborate with resources across all manufacturing and engineering locations, R&D,Manufacturing, Technology & Engineering (MTE), other business units and key external affiliates to support the delivery of innovative automation and equipment solutions.

Education and Skill Requirements:

  • REQUIRED: BS in Electrical Engineering (or related field)
  • 10+ years, high-level of technical knowledgein controls engineering, programming, system integration, measurements and instrumentation.
  • High level of fundamental understanding of process and materials.
  • Knowledge of machine controls / programming methods, systems, production processes, data systems, measurements and instrumentation.
  • Strong Project Management skills.
  • Ability to generate, debug and modifyPLCcode - both ladder logic and structured text; knowledge of closed loop control systems andPIDtuning; sound understanding of AC/DC electrical theory, and practical application thereof.
  • Experience in Robotics programming, Vision systems, variouselectro-mechanical devices (servo motors, sensing devices & conveyors)
  • Experience w/industrial vision systems and scanning devices
  • Ability to generate & interpret electrical drawings
