This position is discipline-specific and has a long-term and strategic focus. It is responsible for driving reliability performance across multiple locations and technologies across North America, by using the most appropriate and effective tools and techniques related with troubleshooting, equipment maintenance and equipment design to support Production and Maintenance in establishing and delivering a sustainable, best-in-class Asset Availability.This position will be located in Geismar, LA, with travel to the Mobile, AL site and others, up to 30% travel is expected.You will ensure a culture of continuous improvement employing LEAN Manufacturing tools.As a Reliability Engineer, you create chemistry by
Monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics for proactive identification and resolution of reliability issues.
Evaluating the completeness, effectiveness, and cost control of Preventative and Predictive Maintenance procedures and activities.
Providing technical support to Production and Maintenance while leading or participating in Root Cause Failure Analyses and corrective actions for complex and/or repetitive problems.
Leading the Bad Actor Program and Criticality Assessments, creating action plans for improved reliability.
Supporting the development of Improvement concepts for submittal to the Project Engineering Group for further development; this will involve taking ideas/concepts and performing front-end work, validating concept feasibility and providing technical focus for project path forward.
Applying engineering expertise in the specification, design and construction of capital projects in accordance with plant design requirements, BASF standards and planning efforts by helping in the field (at the job site) as needed.
Collaborating with Production and Maintenance teams providing services as design review, repair and maintenance & predictive/preventative maintenance activities.
Providing technical support for troubleshooting problems, optimization of PM and PdM programs, procedures and activities for completeness, effectiveness, and cost efficiency.
Coordinating with maintenance, production, and storeroom to establish and maintain proper stocking levels of parts and equipment required to provide maximum equipment uptime at the lowest possible costs.
Formula for success
Engineering degree, Mechanical preferred. 5+ years’ industry experience & 2+ years’ experience in Maintenance / Reliability preferred
Experience in a Reliability/Maintenance role working with API and ASME codes and knowledge of SAP preferred.
Thorough knowledge ofmechanical equipment design and detailedunderstanding of maintenance and reliability activities associated with process equipment
Strong background in equipment troubleshooting, including root cause failure analysis and implementation of improvement efforts.
Understanding of maintenance and reliability work processes, such as centrifugal pumps, piping systems, pressure vessels (including heat exchangers), atmospheric storage tanks, positive displacement pumps, relief devices and compressors of various design.
