Processor for a longliner Catcher Processor

Louisiana, Central louisiana

Vacancy caducado!

Romanzof Fishing Co - F/V Baranof

Immediate Openings - Flights to Alaska 7/10/24

HIRING ASAP! The Barnaof is departing Seattle and will be in Dutch Harbor by Friday or Saturday, June 7th or 8th. If you're interested, please read the following carefully and visit our website to fill out an application.

Please note that you're responsible for getting to Seattle without our assistance. We don't provide airfare from your home city to Seattle however we will arrange for your travel from Seattle's Seatac Airport when you arrive in Seattle.

This job will be tough, and you'll have to work long, grueling 16-hour shifts with little breaks. Your body will ache for the first couple of weeks as you will be using muscles you aren’t used to, and the boat will move and rock while you work.

We recommend watching online videos about longlining and processing. Most vessels either fish or process, but the Baranof does both, allowing us to fish for longer.

To be considered for a position when applying, make sure you provide your last five years of employment and explain any gaps you may have in your employment, this includes any paid or unpaid work.

Positions open onboard Fishing Vessel Baranof must be able to get to Seattle and to the boat at their own expense.

To apply, visit our website: https://baranofcourageous.com/.

About the M/V Baranof: The Baranof is a 183ft old Coast Guard Buoy Tender from the '40s that was converted years ago to a Longline Catcher Processor. Its crew size is around 20-26 (although the boat can hold more), including the cook and officers, depending on the fishery. The vessel fishes Pacific Cod, Black Cod (Sablefish), and Crab when the fishery reopens.

Requirements for the position:

- Understand and follow instructions, directions, safety rules, and procedures in English.

- Board and exit the vessel by gangplank or Jacob’s ladder without assistance.

- Board or exit a skiff without assistance in all weather conditions.

- Ascend and descend steep stairways and ladders in all temperatures.

- Work at least 16 hours per day, seven days per week for the duration of the contract.

- Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.

- Work long hours in all kinds of weather.

- Lift and carry a weight of more than 50 pounds repeatedly.

- Work in a cold and wet environment.

- Don life jacket, life vest, and survival suit without assistance.

- Live and work with others in close quarters

- Be away from medical care and supervision for 3+ months at a time.

- Share crew quarters, bathroom facilities, and common dining areas with other crew members.

- Must be able to pass pre-employment and random DOT drug tests per USCG regulations.

The vessel comes into Dutch Harbor after each trip to offload and resupply. Each trip is approximately three to four weeks, depending on many factors. Pay is based on crew share (percentage of the catch) and is based on the actual sales price of the product produced on your trip(s). We cannot provide an estimate of what you could make, as there are too many variables. The Baranof is a Drug-Free Vessel. You cannot have any drugs on the vessel or in your system while onboard the vessel. Make sure to provide your last five years of work history, paid or unpaid, on your application. Without it, your application may not be considered. Thank you for your interest in our company.
