Crane Operator

Ingram Barge Company is looking to hire a Crane Operator in Burnside, LA. The primary responsibility of this role is to operate a material handler or crane—such as a Link-Belt or cherry picker—to safely and efficiently unload cargo. Additional duties include performing and maintaining daily crane inspection reports to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.What you will be doing:Crane Operation:Safely operating material handler or crane to unload cargo, lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment with precision.Performing thorough pre-operational checks and inspections to ensure crane safety and functionality.Adhering to all safety regulations and protocols to prevent accidents and injuries.Coordinating with riggers and ground personnel to ensure safe and efficient crane operations.Material Handling:Efficiently managing the movement, storage, and organization of materials within the worksiteLoading and unloading materials from trucks to barge, barge to truck, barge to barge, and loading crew boatsEnsuring proper labeling and documentation of materials to maintain accurate inventory recordsUtilizing forklifts, front end loaders and other material handling equipment as needed to support operationsOperating and inspecting material handler/crane, ensuring it is in optimal working condition at all timesMaintenance and Reporting:Performing daily inspections on material handlers or cranes and other equipment to ensure reliability and safetyMaintaining detailed and accurate reports of crane operations, inspections, and maintenance activitiesReporting any defects, damages, or safety concerns to the supervisor promptlyAdditional Duties:Collaborating with team members to ensure smooth and efficient workflowParticipating in safety meetings and training sessions to stay updated on best practices and safety proceduresPerforming other duties as assigned or requested to support the overall operations and success of the teamFrequently carrying, dragging, and pulling of wires, lines, rigging, and ropesWorking on the river apron, and in the cargo holds of barges being loaded and unloadedAssisting in crane signaling operations to lift and move cargo in normal daily stevedoring operationsShoveling and sweeping barge/ramp/dock while trucks are unloading productYard maintenance as neededPainting/housekeeping of full facilityOther duties as assigned
