The Operator Performance Consultants at Emersons Control and Operator Performance Center of Excellence provide industry-leading engineering solutions and innovative technologies to our global customers in a wide range of industries. They utilize modern technologies to design and implement control systems that successfully help our customers meet their operating objectives.

AS AN OPERATOR PERFORMANCE ENGINEER, YOU WILL:
  • Design and implement Operator Performance solutions using Emerson Automation Solutions technology and processes.
  • Understand customers industrial processes and operational requirements
  • Evaluate, design and implement solutions that reduce error and improve situational awareness in an industrial control room environment.
  • Review customer industry process documents and control system database.
  • Develop solutions to optimize operator situational awareness, developing and reviewing strategies with the customers technical and operations team.
  • Deploy solutions at a customer site which involves the integration of control systems, operators training, and providing as-built design documentation.
  • Use various Microsoft Office software applications and control system applications for project execution.
  • Arrange and lead project meetings with customers.
  • Lead project teams
  • Effectively assigns tasks and expectations to project team members in order to meet project deadlines as well as deliver a high-quality project.
  • Mentors entry level Simulation Engineers through formalized training activities and leadership on assigned projects.
  • Assist in sales and marketing activities as a subject matter expert.
  • Participate in external and internal facing training development and delivery
  • Execute to internal quality standards as they pertain to project execution
  • Support continuous improvement of services and technology solutions
  • Continuously develops proficiency with Performance Software technologies under the guidance of consultants by learning and applying best practices/techniques to complete assigned project work.
  • Exercises a working familiarity of customer processes and the Performance Software Project Execution Methodologies and supports key customer-facing activities such as Acceptance Tests.
  • Supports Performance Software project services organization through efficient delivery of project work, participation in organizational meetings, and awareness of strategic priorities.
  • Proactively works with assigned mentors and colleagues to develop skills and knowledge of Performance Software technologies/services, such as AgileOps, advanced control strategies, state-based control solutions, and alarm management.
  • Participate in internal initiatives to support the Performance Software organization.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Education: 4-year Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum Experience: 5-8 years of relevant industry process experience
  • Willingness to travel 20-30%
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel VBA Macro Development and/or Microsoft Access
  • Knowledge of Oil and Gas, Refining, and Petrochemical Industry processes
  • Knowledge of PCS technology such as DeltaV, Honeywell Experion and ABB 800xA
