Infrastructure/Network Engineer

The NOC Engineer is responsible for monitoring availability, performance and overall system uptime for various production environments. The NOC Engineer will work as a member of our 24x7 NOC team that will support our production infrastructures including but not limited to: Networking devices, servers, applications, voice infrastructure and all supporting systems. Perform monitoring, analysis, reporting and escalation for all impacted systems. Assist in coordination of troubleshooting efforts for engineering teams to restore functionality to these areas in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintains Level 1 operations Support by monitoring alerts that can be triggered on all production devices
  • Pro-actively monitor the network, voice and applications infrastructures to maintain servers, availability, integrity, confidentiality & performance.
  • Execute management & support personnel escalations in the event of any performance degradation or production outages.
  • Execute daily operational checklist of the network, system and application production environments to ensure optimal availability & performance.
  • Initiate incident management, triage and personnel escalation efforts for major production issues.
  • Keep business teams updated with consistent and appropriate communications in the event of major incidents or outages.
  • Responsible for technology validation efforts for add, moves & changes to production environments.
  • Candidate will be responsible for working either 2nd or 3rd shift depending on need.
  • Execute & coordinate on-call escalations for 24x7x365 support of production environments.
  • Maintain and follow Standard Operations Procedure documentation for all IT infrastructure technologies.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or certification required
  • Two plus (2+) years of Cisco Router, Switch and ip-networking experience
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP and networking technologies.
  • Experience with ServiceNow or any other enterprise service desk ticketing system
  • Experience using and administering network monitoring systems Nagios, SolarWinds, or What’s up Gold.
  • Experience diagnosing LAN, WAN, VPN, and MPLS issues.
  • Experience working with BGP, OSPF and EIGRP routing protocols
  • Excellent analysis, problem determination, written and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Enterprise Technology environments and Cisco Networks.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to multitask and adapt quickly to emerging technologies.
  • Personal characteristics necessary for position are teamwork, exceptional written & communication skills, and integrity.
  • Strong understanding of SNMP and WMI technologies.
  • Position requires reliable, consistent and punctual attendance.
