Job Summary
Under general direction of the Patient Registration Supervisor, greets incoming patients, enters the pertinent information into the computer and cross trains for the general outpatient registration and the emergency room registration. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
Working Conditions, Hazards and Physical Effort
Works in a well lighted, ventilated and air conditioned area. There’s exposure to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds, diseases, infection, physical strain, and assault, blood, body fluids and tissue. Long periods in stationary positions and moving around the units are required. Must be able to move or position 30 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications or Equivalents
Education: High School Graduate/GED required. Some college education preferred.
Experience: Zero to two (0-2) years previous related Registration experience with knowledge of insurance and medical terminology preferred. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) excellent customer service and service recovery skills, and computer experience. Flexibility to respond to changing priorities and interruptions.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to use the computer, keyboard and use general office equipment including phone, fax and scanners. Ability to use Microsoft Internet, Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
