job detailsjob summary:A Purchaser is needed for one of the world's largest suppliers of aerospace and defense products in the Lenexa, KS area. This position will support the Oxygen Systems Tactical Direct Procurement team by managing supplier relationships, executing procurement processes, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of quality products, with a focus on communication, organization, and problem-solving.location: Lenexa, Kansasjob type: Contractsalary: $26.38 - 33.22 per hourwork hours: 8am to 4pmeducation: Bachelorsresponsibilities:
Manage a group of suppliers from PO placement through order delivery
Approve payments and negotiate prices
Manage supplier relationships to resolve issues such as shortages and missed/late deliveries
Prepare purchase orders and negotiate prices under general guidance
Execute procurement processes, standards, and operational plans, including RFPs, negotiation preparations, and cost analysis
Contact suppliers to schedule or expedite deliveries and resolve problems
Respond to inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations to ensure customer satisfaction
Monitor trends, supplier risks, and changes in demand using procurement tools
Review critical shortages with the Planner and stakeholders; work with suppliers to improve deliveries and close supply gaps
Analyze root causes of issues and implement permanent fixes to prevent overdue deliveries
Ensure products are delivered on time, meet quality standards, and are at the right cost; may perform delivery assurance responsibilities
Monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
Receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments
Perform other projects as assigned by Leadership
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of relevant experience OR
In absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience
Thorough knowledge of supply chain processes, including procurement, sourcing, and supplier performance
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, engineering, or related field
Proficiency in SAP/JDE or related MRP system
Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
Prior purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment
Experience with AS9100 requirements
Experience in the Aerospace industry
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement
Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Project
