EstimatorDate: Aug 13, 2019Location: Lenexa, KS, USCompany: KiewitRequisition ID: 81100ResponsibilitiesReports to Estimating Manager.Develops complete estimates for very large, complex jobs. Supervises Engineer-Estimators in the preparation of check estimates for other work. Will review estimates prepared by other estimating groups or JV partners to determine completeness of data used, procedures, and will aid in resolving differences in bid items. Reviews the Owner’s plans and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project, which will aid him in developing a plan for the actual construction and which will serve as the basis for the estimate; also reviews all bid and contract documents and reviews Home Office Legal Department opinions. Will conduct a site investigation prior to forming a plan of operations to acquaint him/herself with any problems or conditions of an unusual nature that may be present. Will util¬ize recognized engineer techniques and procedures in conducting the investigation and adhere to standard company policy and procedures in obtaining the complete information required or necessary. Will perform design work as required by the nature of the project that is beyond the scope of experience of the Engineer-Estimator, and must be capable of handling major technical problems encountered during bid preparation. Must keep current on various trends developments, such as new equipment, methods, and procedures that are developing in the industry and in his/her specialized area (i.e. mechanical, electrical, etc.). Prepares special engineering studies or reports required by the unusual nature of some bid items or conditions. Consults with Owners on various problems discovered during bid preparation, design, rates, schedules, etc.Qualifications Undergraduate or graduate degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil or construction-related tech¬nology, OR extensive and related work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above. Minimum of 3 years’ estimating experience in power plants or solar projects Extensive knowledge through demonstrated experience of heavy industrial construction and es¬pecially gas-fired combustion turbine power plants. Exceptionally strong attention to detail. Excellent negotiation skills. Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership and team-building skills. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products (e.g. Excel, Work, Outlook, PowerPoint).
