Job Title - Product Program Manager II Location - Waterloo, Iowa Job Description: 24 MONTHS CONTRACT ; Part time: approximately 20 hours/week Targeting late career individuals would likely be the best fit. This is an onsite position primarily. Could consider someone in a hybrid role, but would need to be local so they could come onsite regularly. Roles and Responsibilities of Program Manager Architecture Team This role will be responsible for the planning and reporting of Agile work methodology as applied within the Architecture Team to the various Architecture Development Process (ADP) projects being run. The program manager will lead the planning and execution of release and sprint planning sessions as well as the reporting of the work execution of these plans. Input for actions and work outcomes will be provided by the Architects and Functional System Engineers. Another major activity for this role is assisting the Architect in ADP project execution. The program manager will work with the Architect to: a) support process scaling to subject project, b) schedules and moderates the weekly ADP core team meeting, c) develop the weekly core team meeting agenda, d) monitors and reports metrics of ADP project cross-functional deliverables. Seeking candidates with very strong project management skills. Would not need to be a subject matter expert in the field of engines. This is purely project management. Excellent communication skills would be a must. Description: Leads a cross-functional team using the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) to develop and implement major improvements to existing products or new product programs (typically small in size). Responsible for meeting the program objectives conducting phase reviews and maintaining tracking methods for the programs. Projects typically meet some or all of the following criteria; 1-2 locations (manufacturing and/or engineering design center) 1-2 programs with 2-3 product models total AFE budget of $10 - $20 million (USD) and an average of 20 - 40 resources (per Enterprise Resource Calculator). May provide supervision to engineering support personnel. MAJOR DUTIES:

  • Oversees program(s) execution providing direction and managing to the set schedule financial targets function and performance quality and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Manages schedule to ensure that changes are limited and the financial and customer implications are fully understood and communicated to the appropriate level of leadership.
  • Identifies and manages issues and risks in order to protect the schedule financials and quality goals.
  • Ensures the final product meets defined financial targets e.g. capital expense product cost and profitability.
  • Delivers product manufacturability and serviceability to Deeres standards for functional performance reliability durability and quality at all factories.
  • Develops a clear understanding of customer and market requirements to ensure that the final product meets or exceeds the defined customer satisfaction goals.
  • Provides Leadership for program(s). Plans and manages resource levels coordinating buy-in with all resource managers and teams globally.
  • Ensures team members have the appropriate skills abilities tools and experiences.
  • Guides motivates and maximizes the performance of available resources to ensure all members contribute to the success through complete understanding of their roles timing commitments and expected deliverables.
  • Works collaboratively and fosters effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure program(s) are completed according to schedule.
  • Assesses the adequacy of resources to meet the program requirements and develops/implements a recovery plan for identified gaps. Provides performance management input for core team members.
  • Understands key supplier relationships and integrates appropriate supplier resources into the program(s) to create Gains a thorough understanding of customer requirements and program scope and can differentiate between feature requests requirements and engineering changes.
  • Understands and communicates potential scope changes in a timely manner along with the impact of those changes i.e. cost schedule and product functionality to ensure clear and effective business decisions are made.
  • Controls program scope; identifies potential crises and devises contingency plans. Proactively manages scope changes including securing appropriate approvals.
  • Identifies the root cause of an issue develops a corrective action plan and leads the team through issue resolution escalating issues that materially impact the schedule and/or budget.
  • Creates issues lists with due dates and deliverables. Identifies critical path issues and resultant impact to the schedule; develops and executes action plans for resolution.
  • Identifies analyzes and prioritizes risks to schedule and/or budget and develops and mitigation plans. Communicates issues significant risks and resolution/mitigation strategies via program status updates and as necessary. Ensures program governance and compliance.
  • Ensures that the team utilizes the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP) (or other approved program management process) including phase reviews review of critical gates and leadership approval prior to advancing to the next phase.
  • Ensures scaling of EPDP based upon musts and wants. Utilizes knowledge of EPDP appropriate for level; trains and/or coaches team members to ensure compliance with the process.
