Weekend - Pediatric Group Respite Nurse Nursing and Supports (RN, LPN, CNA, RT - all services) Johnston, Iowa Apply Description The role of a Group Respite Nurse is to provide nursing cares to a small group of children during your shift in collaboration with direct care professionals. Group services typically support 10-12 children over the weekend with varying needs and abilities. Respite care is designed to give families a break from the day-to-day care involved in raising a child with special healthcare needs. ChildServe’s respite service allows parents to attend events for their other children, schedule appointments for themselves, or simply take time to recharge.Aedyn’s Story - ChildServe (https://www.childserve.org/aedyns-story/) Schedule Nursing weekends are held once or twice a month and start Friday evening at 6p through Sunday evenings at 6pm. Shifts vary from 6-12 hours What You’ll Do

Interact with children to encourage play, social interaction, and enjoyment while away from home.

Be creative with crafts, outdoor play, and sensory activities.

Provide nursing support at ChildServe location or in the Community

Be a team member with direct care professionals to support all needs of children in attendance.

Complete electronic documentation and MARS

Possible skills utilized: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, urinary catheterization, injections, etc.

What You’ll Need

Graduate of accredited nursing program

Current valid RN/LPN license in Iowa

Documentation of CPR/BLS certification

Experience working with children with special health care needs preferred

Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the assigned work area, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.

Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading, writing and speaking the English language
