Employment Type:Part timeShift:Day ShiftDescription:Join a team that heals hearts40 hours/pay period, call requirement every third weekend, weeknight rotation, holiday rotation.The Cardiology Department offers invasive and noninvasive procedures; noninvasive diagnostic studies are performed in the Cardiology Department, and in other patient areas, while therapeutic interventions are performed in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab. Clinical services are provided for a broad range of medical diagnosis including medical, surgical, oncology, cardiac, behavioral and long term care with acute and chronic conditions. Invasive/interventional procedures are limited to adult patients with primary or secondary cardiac disease.Cardiology procedures include cardiac catheterization studies, PTCA, atherectomy, coronary stents, pacemaker insertion and intra-aortic balloon pump insertion. Available diagnostic procedures include transthoracic echocardiography, transesophageal echocardiography, ECG, various stress testing modalities, and holter monitors.Under general supervision, the Echocardiographic Technologist offers noninvasive cardiac procedures for inpatients and outpatients, to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, young adult, adult and geriatric age groups. Clinical performance will include both dependent and independent functions based on the philosophy, objectives, standards of care and policies and procedures of MercyOne Medical Center. Customers include patients, physicians, visitors, co-workers, volunteers, vendors, service engineers, and employees (non-management/management).SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Fundamental knowledge of cardiac anatomy and physiology; ability to recognize and document normal vs. abnormal cardiac rhythms.

Working knowledge of medical terminology, cardiac drugs and arrhythmias.

Skills to support telephone communication, procedure scheduling, typing and record filing.

Displays effective communication with a polite, compassionate and caring attitude and demonstrates a responsiveness to needs of patients, families, and physicians in a helpful, courteous manner.

Must be competent to provide care within assigned areas of responsibility and to the population described in the scope of services.

High degree of independent decision making about technical and clinical situations associated with diagnostic cardiac procedures.

Demonstrates customer friendly behaviors.

Promotes customer satisfaction.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High school graduate.

Current BLS verification.

Graduate from an accredited Ultrasound/Echocardiography Program; or appropriate training and clinical experience to provide equivalent technical skills.
