Tidewater Direct LLC, a web offset printing company, is continually seeking night press operators for their West Branch, IA location. The press operator position is a full time position for the right person, running mostly high volume, high quality direct mail component parts. Your experience with commercial printing web presses will move you towards to the front of our candidate search.
The job hours and days for this position: 6:30pm - 6:30am Monday - Wednesday.
Overtime hours will be available as the workload requires.
Job responsibilities include: Running continuous forms in up to 8 colors that generally finish rewound as rolls or sheets. The press operator's responsibilities include, not limited to, pulling work tickets and entering production into a computer, operating all facets of the printing press from splicer to rewinder, setting, adjusting and replacing rollers, setting ink, pinholes and perfs, register and water, performing basic maintenance and upkeep, and more. The press operator will have a dedicated press helper. The press operator should be a leader and is expected to mentor the helper who will be learning the trade and assisting the operator. The press operator may be asked to assist other operators as well.
The ideal candidate for this position has 3 or more years specifically running continuous forms (ideally direct mail and/or litho envelopes) on narrow web presses made by Sanden or similar manufacturer. Web offset experience is required as is UV ink experience. Candidates that are proficient with Sanden 1500 or 1200 presses, GEC turret rewinders, and CC1 peripherals are specifically desired. A proven history of stable employment and quality performance is expected.
Pay is to commiserate with proven experience. In general, seasoned press operators can earn up to $80k/per year.
