Alliant Energy is seeking a motivated Sr. Network Engineer to join our team! This position could be located in Madison WIor Cedar Rapids, IA.In this role you will operate as part of a dedicated team of IT professionals that maintains network, telecommunications, and voice infrastructure. Provides support and implementation of data, telecommunications, and/or voice technologies. Provides problem resolution and troubleshooting in a customer oriented environment. . You must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to work in both a team environment and on self-directed tasks are vital.This position is expected to travel up to 20% of time

This position currently offers a blend of working from home and in theMadison, WI or Cedar Rapids, IAoffice on average one day per week. The successful candidate must reside in either Iowa or Wisconsin

Job Responsibilities

  • Resolves medium- to-high complexity technical issues escalated through the Information Technology Help Desk and other methods for data, telecommunications, and/or voice technologies during and outside of core business hours. Interacts and cooperates with other internal and external support groups to facilitate resolution of technical issues to maximize system availability and meet Service Level Agreements.
  • Plans and collaborates with team members to research, design, implement, monitor, maintain, and support key of network, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration infrastructure to establish stable and reliable network, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration services that support enterprise LAN/WAN environments (e.g. access, distribution and Core Network Services).
  • Coordinates the resolution of unplanned changes, upgrades, or outages of integrated network technologies, and participates in corporate disaster recovery efforts.
  • Provides continual technical expertise in the evaluation, planning, analysis, development and implementation of data, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration technologies including but not limited to providing roadmaps, processes and procedures for both project work and general organizational growth in conjunction with other engineers and management.
  • Mentors less senior engineers and assists with the development of guidelines and tools for position duties; assists with on call duties as needed.
  • Communicates customer requirements into tasks and stories using Agile tools. Communicates with peers such that user tasks and stories are clearly understood by all stakeholders.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, including outside business hours; must be prepared to travel as required.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 4 + years of experience in the Information Technology field with an emphasis in networks, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration technologies.
  • Hardware installation experience.
  • Experience communicating with end users in problem / urgent situations.
  • Proficient diagramming and flow chart experience using software such as Microsoft Visio.
  • Solid understanding and familiarity with network technologies
  • Ability to work individually and as a team member.
  • Ability to work high-paced environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to participate in on-call rotations, including after hours, and ability to travel as required.
Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or Information Technology with an emphasis in networks, telecommunications, voice and/or collaboration technologies; Bachelor's degree for a Network Engineer II
  • Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician (CCENT) and/or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • Experience with Cisco & Juniper, routers, switches, wireless, ISE, ACI, DNA Perl /Python, load balancers, InfoBlox, firewalls Basic Linux/UNIX skills and NERC CIP understanding
  • Experience with dynamic routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
  • Cisco NX-OS, IOS, IOS-XE, VRF, VPC, and VDC experience and understanding
