Manages the strategies, policies and initiatives that support a positive and inclusive work environment.

Partners with business and functional leaders to develop and implement work environment improvements.

Manages the programs and policies that define and enhance Cummins' culture and work environment to ensure that every employee has the opportunity to perform his or her work to their best abilities.

Conducts and assigns confidential investigations, documents findings, and facilitates action plans according to company policies and procedures and legislative requirements.

Leads work environment process reviews and leads improvement initiatives across functions, business segments or geographic regions.

Coaches, mentors and trains internal investigators on company investigation procedures, mandator training courses and other areas related to right environment gaps; coaches investigators on the process to appropriately select and conduct training.

Monitors and assesses employee relations issues and grievance trends for a facility or organization; provides recommendations to line human resources to solve ongoing issues.

Coaches supervisors, managers, and leaders on employee relations, enhancing the work environment, and maintaining healthy relationships with and among employees.

Ensures employment relations initiatives are in alignment with applicable company policies and legislative requirements.

QUALIFICATIONSTo be successful in this role you will need the following:

Importance of Leadership Competencies increases with broadened scope and responsibilities.

Labor and Employee Relations – Applies knowledge of key factors necessary to build and maintain positive employee relations and implements practices that materialize these factors. Experienced consulting on strategies and processes to ensure positive employee relations.

Conducting an Investigation – Possesses in depth knowledge of business ethics policies and practices, and utilizes that knowledge to determine the appropriate course of action. Recommends appropriate resolutions and follow up actions as a result of investigations, taking into consideration the organizational environment. Has experience training, coaching, developing and influencing others as it pertains to the investigation process.

Training Delivery – Uses effective presentation and facilitation skills by adapting content to learner needs.

Communication – Significant experience in written and verbal communication and should be capable of communicating effectively to all levels within and outside the company.

Diversity Management – Has a thorough understanding of the spectrum of diversity as it is practiced in the organization. Has experience in implementing and administering policies related to diversity.

Conflict Management – Brings conflict and disagreement into the open and facilitates the resolution process while maintaining a constructive working relationship. Effectively works through complex conflict situations.

Employment Law – Has a good understanding of employment laws that frequently impact the workplace. Has experience making appropriate decisions and consultation with an expert in the field.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or related field required.

Bachelor’s degree is required

Additional Information

Significant level of relevant work experience required.

Functional Excellence Manager – Specialty

Must have clear concise communication, good sentence structure and good proficiency

Will need to be able to manage all cases very efficiently and must be able to work independently

Must be able to understand policies and procedures

Must have excellent communication skills with cross function capabilities

Must have strong conflict management skills

This is a remote role but will be required to go into the nearest Cummins office 1-2 days a week

Must be comfortable with difficult conversations and conflict

Will need to be able to work cross functionally with other departments

Nice to have a background working in mental health

Compensation and BenefitsBase salary rate commensurate with experience, range: $114,400-171,600.00. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
