Position will be devoted to our smoking residents Full time 8:30 - 5:00SUMMARY: The Activity Assistant provides ongoing program of activities designed to meet, in accordance with the comprehensive assessment, the interests and the physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being of each resident.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Major Duties and Critical Tasks:Assists the Director of Activities and / or the Activities Coordinator to plan, organize, develop, implement and direct the activity program(s) for residents in the facility.

a. Assists in the development and maintenance of the activity calendar.b. Conducts activities that include residents at all levels of care.c. Provides assistance to residents during activities as needed.d. Assists in planning and implementing the schedule for resident outings.e. Attends outings as appropriate and monitor residents.f. Incorporates resident feedback into the activity calendar.g. Encourages residents to participate in hobbies and crafts. Provide materials as appropriate.h. Maintain caseload-all documentation, assessments, care plans, 1:1s, etc.i. Planning and coordinating of groups, 1:1 programs, outings, transportation and entertainmentj. Handling of resident council and voter registration and resident votingAssures that the activities department is run in a fiscally responsible manner.

a. Provides feedback to Director of activities and /or Activities Coordinator to assure equipment and supplies needed are available and in good working order.b. Budget/Supply Management: handling of supply inventory, purchasingParticipates actively in facility teams, committees and task forces.

a. Participates in the development and implementation of resident, family and community events including fund raising and celebrations.b. Participates in facility planning and program development relating the recreational needs of the residents.c. Actively participates in interdisciplinary teams to improve services, solve problems, resolve resident issues, etc.d. Trust fund/resident fund distribution and managementMaintain a service-oriented approach with all internal and external customers in a manner which promotes customer satisfaction.

a. Demonstrates an understanding of customer service/hospitality.b. Suggests ways to improve service through new types of activities or entertainment.c. Evaluates current programs and initiates changes for improvements.d. Passes on comments from residents and others to assist in quality improvement efforts.QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
