Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Phlebotomist II to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a solid experience in blood draws, specimen labeling, centrifuging, and maintaining accurate patient records. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring compliance with OSHA and DEP regulations. The role requires a courteous explanation of procedures to patients and accurate handling of specimens for transport.Responsibilities

Perform blood draws using straight and butterfly needles.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders.

Collect and store specimens following established procedures.

Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly and courteously to patients.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Check test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy.

Package specimens for transport and store them according to required temperature and protocol.

Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attend annual department trainings.

Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Update patient information accurately.

Essential Skills

Experience in blood draw, phlebotomy, and venipuncture.

Certified Phlebotomist with active IL phlebotomy certification.

Minimum of 1-2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab, ambulatory setting, or hospital setting.

Experience with high draw volume.

Experience with newborn/pediatric draws.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Work EnvironmentThe position requires the ability to float with varied hours to cover different territories including Gurnee (home base), Waukegan, North Chicago, Highland Park, Round Lake Beach, Zion, Libertyville, Deerfield, Kenosha, Hayward, Lake Forest, Grayslake, Lindenhurst, and Lake Bluff. The work schedule is Monday to Friday with rotating Saturdays.Schedule: any 9 hours between 8am and 8pm.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $21.00 - $23.00Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
