Fortune Brands Innovations is in search of a Senior Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join our innovative engineering team for next generation product development.Our Internet of Things (IoT) outlook strives for consumer interaction with our products in new and unique ways. As a member of the Quality Assurance team, you will be responsible for the validation of software implementation and changes – ensuring safe and high-quality releases. Understanding and materializing the vision for next generation products, we rely on our Senior Quality Assurance Engineers throughout the product lifecycle to lead, coordinate, develop, and execute the development and enhancement of test infrastructure/plans to ensure electronically enabled product software functions properly and provides a delightful user experience.Beyond a doubt, we have an exciting roadmap ahead for digital products, necessitating growth and expansion of our team!POSITION LOCATION:This position is eligible for a fully remote schedule with all work performed remotely.RESPONSIBLIITIES:Serve as the domain expert for software quality and validation.Test software running in our IoT connected products across the spectrum, from embedded firmware and hardware to Android/iOS apps.Design and develop tests scenarios to exercise functionality, validate specifications, verify stability under stress, and gauge overall effectiveness and usability.Effectively leverage automation tools and implement complimentary manual test strategies.Lead test plan execution on complex projects while guiding junior colleagues on following test plans, reporting problems, and driving towards resolution.Collaborate in a cross disciplinary agile team, which includes Hardware and Software Engineers as well as support staff outside of Engineering.Develop and archive (version control) test suite programs to ensure products can be retested, even after release to production, to support validation of field updates.Prioritize test cases based on end-user relevance and value to maximize meaningful test coverage.Collaborate with the Design Team to leverage automatic builds to perform nightly regression tests.Work with Developers to isolate, reproduce, and troubleshoot issues to aid in bringing them to resolution.Act as a gatekeeper for software quality to ensure that all critical defects are caught and addressed before product launch.QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is required.Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance or Test Automation with some experience testing embedded firm or software apps is required.Capable of testing embedded and non-embedded software in consumer products that may or may not be IoT (Wi-Fi) connected.Must possess a good understanding of Software Quality Assurance tools, techniques, and best practices. This may include, but is not limited to, black box testing, regression testing, Firebase, Jenkins, Jira, Python, and mobile app automation or equivalents.Working experience desired with Wi-Fi and common home networking technologies, especially related to low power IoT devices and how to troubleshoot issues.Experience desired in testing for Google Assistant & Amazon Alexa, in English and other languages preferred.Strong analytical, documentation, test planning, and communication skills.Curiosity and drive to expose defects and maximize product quality.Comfortable acting as an advocate for quality on cross development teams spanning multiple design disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, and Software) and other departments (Marketing, Quality, Reliability, and Manufacturing).
