A Wire and Cable Manufacturing Co. Specializing in Custom Made Wire Products Seeking a Reliable Shipping Clerk with 2+ years of experiences working inside a Shipping environment.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Shipping Clerk examines products to be shipped and verifies with manifests to ensure accuracy. Records shipment data – weight, space available, damage or discrepancies to be reported to his/her Supervisor and prepares work orders and bills of lading.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Scan and prepare paperwork for all out-going orders
Verify product and quantities
Communicate with the Warehouse and Traffic departments to identify what is scheduled to ship and with other shipping personnel to
consolidate shipments
Wrap and tag all out-going product
Load and unload trucks
Maintain shipping log for all out-going shipments
KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of the various types of wire and cable produced and the customers to whom it is being shipped
Knowledge of packaging and loading techniques
Knowledge of applicable OSHA/Safety regulations
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to operate a forklift
Basic computer skills required
Self-motivated, dependable and able to take direction yet, work independently
Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to speak and write in Spanish is helpful
Ability to prioritize work schedule yet remain flexible
Ability to multi-task and problem-solve
Well organized and strong attention to detail with consistent accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED required
Six (6) to twelve (12) months of experience working in a shipping environment and operate a forklift, and basic computer knowledge
WORK SCHEDULE:
1ST SHIFT: Monday to Friday from 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. PAY RATE: 18.00

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee operates within a warehouse environment and is exposed to vibration and continuous noise from trucks and forklifts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential functions of the job the employee is required to frequently sit, stand or walk, grasp, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, bend, twist, push/pull, operate equipment, and lift objects up to fifty pounds using safe lifting techniques. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is frequently required to listen and speak.
