Overview:
Advance Automation Company is a Chicago-based privately-held cylinder manufacturer founded in 1960. Advance Automation Company supports the sales and service of its product line through a nationwide network of distributors, who sell mainly to OEM end users.
In the key role of Class A Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various machines, including drill presses, vertical mill, engine lathe, and Milltronics machine in our Specials Department.
Responsibilities:
-Adds specific options to standard parts in the manufacture of cylinders and accessories, for special orders
-Sets up fixtures and machines for mainly fast pace, short runs
-Uses instruments such as calipers and micrometers to measure tolerances on parts to ensure quality control and conformance to specifications
-Monitors machines in Specials Department for proper operation and accuracy; troubleshoots when needed
-Maintains tools
-Uses Milltronics conversational programming
-Accommodates and assists in designing solutions for special requests from customers
-Performs other duties as required
Qualifications and Experience:
-Minimum 5 to 10 years’ experience in a similar shop role
-Ability to read blueprints and drawings
-Must have high school diploma or equivalent
-Technical training/certifications helpful, but not required
-Read and write English, and possess basic math skills
-Knowledge of some Milltronics programming is helpful
-Knowledge of speeds and feeds to accomplish task and maximize tool life
-Ability to work well in a small company setting, with little supervision
-Provide own tools
-Responsible, organized, reliable, and punctual
