About the role:
Your main role is to pick up product and equipment @ The Hatchery located @ 135 N Kedzie, set up at the event or market at various sites in Chicagoland, and sell fresh onigiri (Japanese rice balls) to farmers market or special event customers.
YOU must
Have a reliable vehicle, insurance, and valid driver’s license. Your vehicle should be able to accommodate flat objects as large as 2'3"x4' and long rectangular objects as large as 5'2"x10"x10"
Be able to lift 40 pounds
Be able to work 2-3 shifts a week. (If you can ONLY do one shift, that is fine.)
Be able to obtain a Summer Festival License for food safety.
Have great customer service skills.
Have math/arithmetic skills, on site while selling and for reporting afterwards.
Have attention to detail with regards to product inventory and supplies/setup.
Be able to describe and answer questions about our product (training will be provided)
Be reliable
Have a working, charged cell phone
Cash handling skills, familiarity with Square POS (https://squareup.com/us/en), and familiarity with Google Sheets are all a plus
Compensation:
$18.00 an hour
Parking when necessary, will be reimbursed
Tips
Mileage will be reimbursed at .70 per mile (Rate will be in accordance with IRS Standard Mileage Rate)
Where: Our product is made in our production kitchen located in the Hatchery at 135 N Kedzie Chicago, IL. You would pick up our products, coolers, tents and technology and drive to your event location.
Locations will vary depending on the day of the week. Think Evanston to Hyde Park and many points in between.
Think of Wicker Park, Andersonville, South Loop, and Lincoln Square for Farmers Markets
Events examples include: Renegade Craft Festival, Randolph Street Market, and Midsommarfest
Farmers Markets are open between May and October
Weekday shift is 6-7 hours and approximate times would be 2:00 PM -7:00 PM
Weekend shift would be from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Weekend special events have varying times including late shifts going until 10 PM
Ability to work early mornings 5:00 AM - 1:00 PM is a plus, but not required
Farmers Market Associates will attend a short weekly standup meeting via Zoom
We may have opportunities before the outdoor farmers market season opens, and will have holiday season events after the season closes.
