Oak Mill Bakery is looking for a detail-oriented and efficient Cake Froster to join our team.
This role focuses on preparing wedding and specialty cakes for decoration by expertly frosting and assembling them. The Cake Froster plays a key role in ensuring that each cake is structurally and visually flawless before decoration.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and apply frosting, buttercream, ganache, soft chocolate, fondant or other coatings to cakes with a consistent, smooth finish.
Assemble multi-tiered wedding and special event cakes with proper internal supports to ensure stability.
Trim, level, and crumb-coat cakes as necessary before final frosting.
Collaborate closely with cake decorators to ensure the frosted cake meets design specifications.
Maintain high standards of quality, precision, and cleanliness in all frosting tasks.
Follow standardized recipes and portion controls to minimize waste.
Properly label and store finished cakes and components in refrigerators or freezers.
Clean and sanitize all tools, work surfaces, and equipment after use.
Assist in prepping basic cake components (e.g., slicing layers, mixing fillings) as needed.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a bakery or commercial kitchen preferred; experience frosting wedding or specialty cakes is a plus.
Strong attention to detail and consistency in cake smoothing and structure.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
Basic understanding of cake handling, food safety, and sanitation standards.
Ability to lift and handle large cakes and work while standing for extended periods.
Punctual, dependable, and team-oriented.
Work Schedule:
Weekdays, with flexible hours based on production demands and event deadlines.
