Job Description
Ideal for someone who is semi-retired or retired looking to teach one or more days per month and has a flexible schedule. Prefer someone who has prior teaching experience.
As a ServeSafe Food Safety Manager Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality food safety training and certification courses to a diverse audience, including restaurant managers, chefs, and other food service professionals. Your primary goal will be to ensure that all participants understand and can implement the principles of food safety in their respective roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Instruction and Training
- Conduct ServeSafe Food Safety Manager certification courses, both in-person and onsite.
- Provide engaging and informative lectures, discussions, and hands-on activities.
- Tailor instruction methods to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Course Preparation and Administration
- Prepare course materials, including presentations, handouts, and examinations.
- Ensure all training materials are up-to-date with the latest ServeSafe standards and regulations.
- Administer and process exams and licenses ensuring accurate record-keeping of results.
- Compliance and Standards
- Stay informed about current food safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Ensure all training adheres to the guidelines and standards set by ServeSafe and relevant health authorities.
- Promote a culture of food safety and hygiene within the training environment.
- Communication and Support
- Provide clear and effective communication to course participants.
- Offer guidance and support to participants throughout the certification process.
- Address any questions or concerns related to food safety practices and certification requirements.
- Continuous Improvement
- Gather feedback from course participants to improve future training sessions.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and food safety knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Certified ServeSafe Instructor and Proctor or willing to apply for certification
- General knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
- Prior experience preferred in food safety training or a related field.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to engage and motivate learners.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Proficiency in using technology for virtual training and exam sessions.
- Ability to travel to various training locations, if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Associates degree in food science, hospitality management, or a related field
- Experience working in the food service industry.
- Bilingual skills (if applicable to the target audience).
