Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.Required Job Qualifications: Bachelor degree in related field. Five years of research/grant administration experience. Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage large volumes of work and multiple projects under tight deadlines. Demonstrated proficiency with electronic submission of grant proposals, internet searches, and database applications. Knowledge of electronic federal proposal/award management systems, including www.grants.gov. · In-depth knowledge of federal and non-federal regulations and guidelines, cost principles, uniform administrative requirements for grants; understanding of OMB Circulars and agency-specific terms and conditions, including the National Science Foundation Policy Manual and the Department of Health and Human Services Public Health Service Grants Policy Statement.· Ability to work independently and collaborate across organizational units and at all levels, including faculty, central administration, and senior institutional officials. · Computer literacy, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel.Preferred Job Qualifications: Master's degree. Three years of experience. Certification in Research Administration. Prior program and people management experience.Responsibilities:

Oversees pre-submission grant planning and budget development with department faculty and outside investigators, from identification of new funding opportunities and development of procedures, to timely and efficient submission according to sponsor guidelines and in compliance with institutional requirements for grant applications and subcontracts. Oversees preparation of grant applications and submission in the Rush Research Portal.

Oversees and/or prepare grant related IRB applications.

Develops effective post-award management in collaboration with the Office of Research Affairs. Consults with principal investigators and project directors on timelines of grant funding and submissions to help them meet performance goals set by the Chairman. Provides grant management expertise on post-award issues such as applicable regulations, allow ability of costs, equipment purchases, budget variances, subcontract administration, no cost extensions, re-budgeting, cost-share requirements, and unique, agency specific, reporting responsibilities. Leads research personnel through research closeout procedures, provides advice related to the development of all external reports to sponsors and ensure timely and efficient submission of NIH Just-In-Time requirements and annual progress reports.

Responsible for department compliance with corporate finance accounting policy and procedures and policies of the NIH and other funding agencies. Will apply broad knowledge of, and experience with, Federal OMB Circulars and administrative guidelines for federal and non-federal grants, as well as NIH policies and procedures to pre- and post-award process and Departmental procedures. Plans, develops, implements, and monitors SOPs, policies and systems to effectively manage grant and contract post-award activities in collaboration with administrative leadership.

Manages research funds, including monitoring monthly expenses on all NIH funds, NIH subcontracts, foundation, drug studies and discretionary funds.

System expert for various research related portals and databases. Provides training for grant related administrative procedures. These include pre/post-award workflow, policies and procedures of the Office of Research Affairs, NIH, Rush Research Portal, regulations as related to grants/contracts for both pre- and post-awards, as well as new and evolving policies and procedures. Creates or customizes training materials/directives for department faculty, project directors, and research staff.

Serves as liaison with funding agencies, ensuring compliance with regulation guidelines, and responding to other programmatic needs identified by principal investigators, project directors, Rush administrative personnel, NIH/foundation program officers, and/or NIH/foundation grants management personnel.

Acts as liaison and provides NIH grant submission guidance to external and collaborative researchers
